Global Positioning Systems are becoming more common in a variety of devices from smartphones to navigation systems mounted in cars. This technology depends on a clear path from the receiver to the sky in order to be able to receive signals from as many satellites as possible.
GPS Passive antennas:Passive antennas cannot be as long as active antennas because the signal is lost over the length of the cord. Most passive antennas are necessarily a meter or less in length. Passive antennas do not need a power source, but they must rely on the GPS’s built-in LNA(Low-Noise Amplifier) to strengthen weak signals.
GPS Active antennas:Active antenna require a power source but amplify weak signals. These are the most useful and most commonly bought GPS antennas.
